Art knows no boundaries

A goal, if not the main goal, of DIVA is to promote equality through Art. To erase the lines we have drawn around ourselves. Be they national, social, racial, religious, gender, or ethnic in nature, the divisions we have created do exactly what for which they were originally drawn: divide.

But within this goal of removing these lines, we find ourselves somewhere in between a paradox and an oxymoron. Yes, there are different peoples in the world. And yes, one could argue all peoples are the same. While different groups of our population continue to use a segmented view of the world as a path toward a disjointed dominance over others, DIVA seeks to celebrate our diversity. To use our differences as a positive. To remove the stigma attached to those differences and show the world this is what makes us strong. Not weak.

Division, subtraction…By nature, makes things smaller. Weaker.

Addition, multiplication…increase. These add. Accumulate. Strengthen.

But Art is not always rainbows and unicorns. Art is not always easy. To view or to create. The challenge in this endeavor we call the Dudas Inspiration Venue for the Arts is to give a voice to all sides of the Art conversation. One week we may have an offering of watercolor landscapes from local painters. The next exhibit could be a series of original one act plays.
-Poetry slams
-Throwing clay on a wheel.
-Dance
-Carpentry
-Musical revues
Each of them in their own way Art.

DIVA exists to be many things to many Artists and many consumers. To bring Art and Artists together. To find ways for our Art to erase the lines we have drawn around ourselves. To gain the insight we lack today to help us on our path to tomorrow. To find

…each other.
